Description
Clyde Valley Woodlands National Nature Reserve (Cartland Crags) is a remarkable nature reserve in Scotland, encompassing six separate woodlands along the River Clyde.
It's a place to marvel at its rich biodiversity - in spring the forest floor is covered with bluebells, wild garlic and anemones, and you can hear birdsong, including meadowlarks and barred owls.
The steep gorges and cliffs of Cartland Crags make for a spectacular landscape, and ancient hardwood forests here have survived intact for hundreds of years. Marked trails, including a 6-kilometer route between Cartland and Cleghorn bridges, allow you to discover all the charms of this magical place.
