Description
City Hall Aachen is one of the most important historic buildings in Germany. Built on the foundations of Charlemagne's palace from around 800, it combines Gothic and Baroque styles.
The interior impresses with its late Gothic architecture, and the Coronation Hall, where coronations of German kings were celebrated, is particularly impressive. The Granusturm tower, dating from the time of Charlemagne, offers a panoramic view of the city.
The town hall houses two museums: the International Newspaper Museum and a museum dedicated to Charlemagne and his era.
