Description
The Church of St. John Nepomucene in Munich is a true gem of the South German Baroque. Built between 1733 and 1746 by the Assam brothers as their private chapel, it allowed them complete freedom of artistic expression.
The interior of the church is a masterpiece of Rococo art with rich sculptures, paintings and ornaments. The church's façade blends harmoniously with the buildings of Sendlinger Street, and its interior is divided into three zones symbolizing the path from the suffering of the world to eternity.
Features include a main altar with four spiral columns and a magnificent fresco 'Life of St. John Nepomucen' by Cosmas Damian Asam.
