Katedra w Bobbio

The Bobbio Cathedral is an impressive Romanesque church dating back to the 11th century, also known as the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta.

Its interior, divided into three naves, impresses with blue vaulted ceilings and precious frescoes, including the 14th-century Annunciation and an unusual depiction of the Last Supper with Mary Magdalene.

The crypt houses the remains of all the bishops of Bobbio since 1600, a beautiful 12th-century floor mosaic and the marble sarcophagus of St. Columbanus. The cathedral also holds valuable works of art, including a polyptych by Bernardino Luini.
