Description

The Chakri Maha Prasat Throne Hall is the architectural jewel of the Grand Palace in Bangkok, combining European Renaissance with traditional Thai aesthetics. Built between 1876 and 1882 to mark the centenary of the Chakri dynasty, it was the first building in Thailand to have electricity.

Its distinctive silhouette, with an Italian marble facade and Corinthian columns topped with traditional Thai gilded roofs, has earned it the nickname 'the foreigner in the crown'.

It is a place where the history of Thailand's modernization meets centuries-old tradition, offering a fascinating journey through time for lovers of Far Eastern architecture and culture.
