Description

Malahide Castle is one of the oldest and most historic fortresses in Ireland, dating back to the 12th century. For nearly 800 years it belonged to the Talbot family, who received the land from King Henry II in 1185.

The castle combines medieval and Georgian architecture, and its Great Hall is the only medieval hall in Ireland to retain its original features. The 260-acre park surrounding the estate is stunning with 5,000 species of plants.

For the little ones, there is a magical Fairy Path, where children can explore the hidden homes of these fairy tale creatures.

avatarDc Dug2 weeks agoI was at a concert, Iron Maiden. I got a concert bus to the venue. The journey was around an hour from the city centre. Getting in was swift enough. The venue is very good with a downhill slope to the stage. Iron Maiden, Halestorm, and The Raven Age were all very enjoyable, good sound, and visibility. Bars queues were busy but moved fast. They do have 2e deposits on the cups, so you keep and return them. Non alcoholic beer wise, they had Heineken zero on tap. Toilets entry exit system was desperate, just jammed packed to get in and out as no separate entrance exit, everyone was using the same one. Toilets were easy to get once in, just hard to exit. There were lots of food trucks, queue not too bad earlier on. Exiting was slow, but there were loads of buses and crowd control, directions were okay, so getting out and home is okay although slow with so many people. I was go to a concert there again if I was into the band. As far as outdoors venues go, it is one of the better ones.
avatarTina Reillya month agoLovely castle with butterfly garden and fairy trail. Great for kids. Castle has a rich history, a resident ghost, and amazing rooms to view. The tour guide was great!
avatarIPRa month agoTotally worth it to do the tour. Our guide was good. Wish it could’ve been a little louder since there was a lot of us. Definitely get tickets in advance and don’t forget the butterfly house.
