Description
Castillo de El Tostón is a unique cylindrical fortress from the 15th century that guarded the coast of Fuerteventuta from pirate attacks.
Built of local stone, it could accommodate 12 soldiers and was equipped with three cannons. Today, the castle serves as an exhibition center where local artists showcase their contemporary works.
From the top of the fortress there is a breathtaking view of the beaches of El Cotillo. It is an absolute symbol of the region and a living part of the island's history, reflecting its strategic importance during the colonial era.
