Garten des Gedenkens

Garten des Gedenkens is a unique memorial garden located on the site of the former synagogue in Marburg, destroyed during Kristallnacht in 1938.

It is not only a place of reverie, but also a space for dialogue and reflection. The garden is distinguished by its modern design with a white concrete frame surrounding a lawn and a tree, symbolizing the former prayer hall.

The grounds feature a glass display case with a photograph of the synagogue and an art project called 'Zettelkasten' where visitors can leave notes and read reflections from other visitors, creating an ongoing dialogue about the significance of this historic site.
