Description
Burg Hasegg / Münze Hall in Tirol is a fascinating medieval castle and former mint that played a key role in the history of European minting.
It was here that the first silver dollar-sized coin, the Guldengroschen, was minted in 1486. Visitors can admire an original replica of the first coin minting machine from 1571, which was a technological marvel of its time, producing up to 4,000 coins a day.
The Mint Tower offers breathtaking views of the Inn Valley. There is a special audioguide version of 'Franzl' for the little ones, and anyone can mint their own coin as a souvenir!
