Description
Buddenturm is one of the oldest surviving parts of Münster's fortifications, dating back to around 1150. This imposing defensive tower, also known as the Powder Tower, was originally 20 meters high and was a key defensive element of the city.
The Buddenturm combines Romanesque and Gothic styles, characterized by thick sandstone walls and narrow windows. The tower witnessed many historical events, including the Anabaptist Uprising of 1534-1535, when it served as a rebel stronghold.
The top of the tower offers a picturesque panorama of the city, perfect for photography and architecture enthusiasts.
