Description
Buchhornbrunnen is a unique fountain in the heart of the old town of Friedrichshafen, designed by sculptor couple Barbara and Gernot Rumpf. Unveiled in 2001, it is a fascinating combination of art and local history.
The centerpiece is a stylized beech tree with stainless steel sheets, referring to the city's original name. It is surrounded by fanciful sculptures depicting small zeppelins, gears, animals and other elements associated with the city's industrial development.
The fountain is interactive - children can splash in the water and climb over the sculptures, making it an ideal spot for a summer afternoon.
