Description
The Florian Gate is the only surviving medieval city gate of Krakow, a symbol of the city's historical power. This 13th century Gothic tower, erected at the behest of Prince Leszek the Black, marks the beginning of the famous Royal Road leading to Wawel Castle.
For centuries the gate served a defensive function, being part of the city's fortification system, connected to the Barbican. It is decorated with a Baroque superstructure from the 16th century and a golden statue of St. Florian.
This place, which remembers royal processions and military parades, allows you to feel the authentic spirit of medieval Krakow.
