Description

Birka is a fascinating UNESCO-listed archaeological site from the Viking Age. Discover a reconstructed Viking village that will take you back in time to the 8th to 10th centuries, when Birka was a bustling trading center.

The museum displays an impressive collection of artifacts, including Arabian silver, beads and exclusive textiles from Asia, testifying to extensive trade contacts.

Visiting the site, you'll also learn about the history of Sweden's first Christian congregation, founded by St. Ansgar in 831. Walking among the grave barrows, you will feel the spirit of the ancient Viking community.
