Description
Belgrade Forest is a vast deciduous forest located in Istanbul's Sariyer district. With an area of over 5500 hectares, this natural reserve offers excellent outdoor activities.
The forest surprises with its rich biodiversity - more than 200 species of birds can be found here, as well as numerous mammals, including wild boars and foxes.
The place also has an interesting history - it was named after the village of Belgrade, settled by Serbs deported from Belgrade in 1521. The forest also contains historic Ottoman dams and reservoirs.
