Description
The Klosterneuburg Abbey is a unique monument with more than 900 years of history, founded in 1114 by Margrave Leopold III after his wife Agnes' wedding veil was found on a lilac tree.
It is a place full of cultural and artistic treasures, the most valuable of which is the 1181 Verdun Altarpiece, a masterpiece of medieval art. The abbey also houses the Holy Crown of Austria, taken out only on special occasions.
The complex combines Gothic and Baroque architecture, offering visitors a fascinating journey through centuries of history, art and spirituality.
