Description
The Kremsmünster Abbey is one of the oldest Benedictine monasteries in Austria, founded in 777 by Prince Tassilo III.
Stunning Baroque architecture, an impressive library with more than 100,000 volumes, and a secret door activated by pressing the right book are just some of the attractions of this place.
In the treasury you can admire the priceless Chalice of Tassilo from the 8th century, and the eight-story Mathematical Tower hides a collection of natural history exhibits. The abbey is also famous for its boys' choir, which is over 950 years old.
