Description
The Sandomierz Underground Tourist Route is a fascinating journey into the city's medieval history.
The 470-meter-long system of corridors with 34 chambers reaches up to 12 meters below the surface of the Market Square. The former merchant's cellars and warehouses, once used to store herring, salt and wine, today tell the story of the city.
Each chamber has its own name and legend, like the one about Halina Krępianka, the heroine who saved the city from the Tatars. The tour is guided only, which guarantees safety and enriches the experience with fascinating stories.

Thyron RonKai4 months agoA kind of must see position… even good pictures will not give you the flavour of what you can hear there from a guide and seeing it with your own eyes is worth it. Prices are very low and you have a good 40 minutes sight tour. Strongly recommend
Beata Sochaa year agoA nice history lesson about Sandomierz in Middle Ages and its glory days. The guide (Polish) told us the local legend about a hero lady who saved the town from a Tartar invasion, about mediaeval trading and more modern history of the city and the tunnels. It's nice and cool in the tunnels, a great way to spend an hour on a hot sunny day.
Piotr Napiórkowski7 years agoAttraction is a little bit overrated. It's over 30 min walk in underground corridors, even in middle of summer temperature inside is constant (+/- 12C). A big plus for guides, who tell the whole story with real passion.Nearby
