Mother Shipton's Cave is the oldest tourist attraction in England, operating since 1630. The cave is the legendary birthplace of the famous fortune teller Mother Shipton, who was born during a violent storm in 1488.
Next to the cave is the unique Petrifying Spring, which turns objects to stone thanks to mineral-rich water. A scenic walk along the Nidd River offers not only beautiful views, but also contact with fascinating history.
