Description
Poznan Goats are one of the city's most distinctive symbols. Every day at 12:00 p.m., two mechanical goats on the tower of Poznan City Hall trumpet their horns, attracting crowds of tourists and locals.
This unique attraction has its roots in the 16th century and is related to an interesting legend about a young cook named Pietrek, who accidentally burned the leg of a deer being prepared for a feast. To divert attention from his mishap, he kidnapped two goats, which escaped to the tower of the city hall and began to gyrate, entertaining those gathered.
In addition to the mechanical goats, two sculptures of these animals are also worth seeing - one on Kolegiacki Square and a colorful installation on Piłsudskiego Street.
