Grota Mechowska

The Mechowska Grotto is a unique natural phenomenon - the only sandstone cave in Poland and Northern Europe. It was formed during the last glaciation, when water carved impressive columns and rock formations into the soft sandstone.

The interior of the cave impresses with unusual formations resembling flowstone, small stalactites and ribs. Due to its uniqueness, it has been protected as an inanimate natural monument since 1955.

The temperature inside is about 7.5°C with 90-98% humidity, so even on hot days it is advisable to bring warmer clothes. This is a fascinating place for lovers of geology and unusual natural phenomena.
