Description
Fontaine des Chartreux is a fascinating spring with a rich history, located in picturesque Cahors. The site was revered as early as the 1st century BC as a sacred spring dedicated to the Celtic water goddess Divona.
The crystal clear water, sometimes turning emerald in color, flows from a deep 140-meter deep karst system. In 1362, the spring was given to the Carthusian monastery, from which it takes its current name.
It is the ideal place for history and nature lovers to enjoy a unique combination of cultural heritage and natural beauty.
