Café Tortoni

Café Tortoni is the oldest café in Argentina, operating continuously since 1858. The Parisian-style interior with oak paneling, marble tables, and a glass ceiling transports guests back to the 19th century.

This is where Jorge Luis Borges, Carlos Gardel, and Alfonsina Storni used to meet—the tables with plaques commemorate the famous regulars. The basement housed the Agrupación de Gente de Artes y Letras, where artists shaping Argentine culture created their works. Authentic coffee, medialunas, and the tradition of waiters remembering orders without writing them down.
