Description
The Alsatian Museum is a fascinating journey through time through the culture and traditions of the Alsace region. Founded in 1907 to preserve Alsatian identity, it is housed in three historic Renaissance-era buildings connected by a labyrinth of stairs and corridors.
The museum features more than 5,000 exhibits, including furniture, toys, traditional costumes and tools. Of particular interest are reconstructions of interiors typical of various regions of Alsace, from farms to artisan workshops.
Unique to the collection are some 1,500 objects related to Jewish life in Alsace since the 12th century.
