Description
Al Zubara Fort is a fascinating historical monument in Qatar, listed by UNESCO. This 1938 square fort, with three round and one rectangular tower, originally served as a coast guard post and later a police station.
Today, it houses a museum displaying archaeological artifacts that provide a glimpse into the daily life of the former inhabitants. The distinctive architecture with traditional Cathar blanks and machicolations delights history and culture lovers.
The rugged landscape of the Qatari desert surrounding the fort adds to the site's unique charm and makes for excellent photography.
