Description
Jahili castle is an impressive 1890s fort, built on the orders of Sheikh Zayed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan. This unique structure made of sun-dried silt bricks impresses with its traditional Islamic architectural style and distinctive towers.
The fort houses a permanent exhibition dedicated to Sir Wilfred Thesiger, the intrepid traveler who crossed the Empty Quarter twice in the 1940s. A gallery of temporary exhibits displays a variety of cultural and historical artifacts, some dating back to 6,000 BC.
The fort's tranquil gardens provide the perfect backdrop for relaxing and contemplating the beauty of the desert.
