Description
Altab Ali Park is a place of unique historical and cultural significance in the heart of London. Formerly known as St. Mary's Park, it was renamed in 1994 in honor of Altab Ali, a 25-year-old Bengali textile worker who was the victim of a racist murder in 1978.
The park is distinguished by the distinctive Altaba Ali Arch, an elaborate gateway that combines Mogul and Gothic motifs to commemorate the victims of racial violence. The park also contains the remains of the 14th-century St Mary Matfelon Church.
It's the perfect place for a quiet stroll and reflection on east London's multicultural history.
