Description
Persio Flacco is a historic theater in the heart of the Italian city of Volterra, named after a Roman satirist born in the city.
The stunning horseshoe-shaped layout of the hall with four floors of galleries, an acoustic vaulted ceiling and a stage with a perforated floor creates a unique space for art lovers.
The main curtain, painted by Nicola Contestabile, depicts Aulus Persius Flaccus being led by muses to the summit of Parnassus, and the ceiling is decorated with Venus in a chariot drawn by swans.
The theater holds about forty musical and artistic events a year, offering a variety of opera and theater performances.
