Virgen del Tanquito Hermitage

Virgen del Tanquito Hermitage is a unique sanctuary carved into the rock on Mount Cardón in Fuerteventura.

This small cave used as a place of worship has a history of over 500 years, and the current church dates back to the 18th century. The interior impresses with its richly decorated chancel, coffered ceiling and altars dedicated to the Immaculate Conception and Saint Pedro Gonzáles Telmo.

Every year, on the first Saturday in June, the faithful follow a pilgrimage route to the shrine. The roughly 4-kilometer route offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.
