Description

Izumo Taishakyo Mission of Hawaii is one of the oldest and most important shintō temples in the United States, operating since 1906. The A-shaped wooden structure was inspired by the classic Japanese Izumo-taisha temple in Japan.

The main deity worshipped at the temple is Ōkuninushi, the Great Lord of the Earth, who is revered for his influence on good luck, medicine, agriculture and marriage.

The temple holds various cultural events, including New Year's hatsumōde and ceremonies commemorating the victims of the Hiroshima atomic bomb. It is a unique place to experience authentic Japanese culture and spirituality.
