Description
Koko Head District Park is a unique destination for outdoor and nature lovers. It is famous for the legendary Koko Crater Trail, also known as the 'Stairway to Heaven' - more than 1,000 steps formed from old railroad tracks, leading to the top with breathtaking views of the Oahu coastline.
The park has a fascinating history - during World War II it served as a strategic observation post with artillery outposts. Today, it's a birdwatcher's paradise with unique species like the Hawaiian Honeycreeper.
The park is also home to the 60-acre Koko Crater Botanical Garden with dryland plants from around the world.
