Description
Desert National Wildlife Refuge is the largest wildlife refuge in the continental United States, encompassing more than 1.6 million acres of desert land.
This unique place is home to more than 900 species of plants and animals, including 320 species of birds. The preserve offers numerous hiking trails, three of which are adapted for people with disabilities.
History buffs will appreciate the more than 450 historic tribal sites and historic cottages, such as the Railroad Tie Cabin. The overlook at Hayford Peak (9912 feet) offers breathtaking views of the entire area.
