Description
Carson National Forest is a vast natural area covering 1.5 million acres in northern New Mexico. This remarkable forest offers a variety of ecosystems, from sage scrubland to alpine meadows and tundra, with elevations ranging from 1980 to over 4,000 meters.
It is home to New Mexico's highest peak, Wheeler Peak (4013 meters), which provides breathtaking views. Outdoor enthusiasts will find excellent hiking, mountain biking, fishing and wildlife viewing, including mule deer, cougars and black bears.
