Description
The James Scott Mansion is a historic landmark in Detroit, built in 1897 by wealthy businessman and gambler James Scott. This impressive Romanesque-style building resembles a real castle, and its narrow structure (85 feet wide and 15 feet deep) is a true architectural phenomenon.
After Scott's death, the building was converted into an apartment building to accommodate incoming immigrants. Restoration work is currently underway to restore this unique building to its former glory.
It is one of the last unrestored significant buildings in the Cass Corridor neighborhood.
