The Iowa Theater

The Iowa Theater is a historic movie theater that has been an important part of Winterset's cultural heritage since the early 20th century. Originally a grocery store in 1899, it was converted into a theater and cinema in the 1920s.

It's a place full of nostalgia and historical innovation - it was the first cinema in the city to present a movie with sound in 1930! The distinctive brick facade, neon signs and renovated 1928 balcony create a unique atmosphere of American cinema from the golden age of Hollywood.
