Description
Belle Isle Aquarium is the oldest continuously operating public aquarium in North America, opened in 1904. Designed by famous architects George D. Mason and Albert Kahn, it impresses with its unique Beaux-Arts style.
The interior, with its impressive gallery and arched ceiling covered with green Opalite tiles, creates a magical underwater experience. The 44 tanks contain nearly 6,000 gallons of water, showcasing a variety of freshwater fish from the Great Lakes as well as colorful marine fish and corals.
It is the perfect place for lovers of history, architecture and the underwater world.
