Description
National Trust - Chedworth Roman Villa is one of the largest and most sophisticated Roman villas discovered in Britain, dating back to the 2nd century AD.
It impresses with impressive floor mosaics that depict geometric patterns and seasons. Two baths with a hypocaust heating system, a dining room with mosaics and a circular Nymphaeum pool (a temple to the goddess of water) attest to the wealth of the former residents.
A small museum displays finds including jewelry, pottery and a rare fish-shaped bottle fragment from 1800 years ago. Ideal for history buffs and families looking for an educational adventure in a picturesque Cotswolds setting.
