Description
Blean Woods National Nature Reserve is the largest ancient hardwood forest in southern Britain, stretching over 11 square miles.
It's a nature lover's paradise, offering a variety of walking trails, including the famous 25-mile Big Blean Walk trail with 18 information boards.
The reserve is famous for its rich biodiversity and is home to the rare butterfly, the atalian diaphragm. As a Special Protection Area, it attracts birdwatchers and wildlife enthusiasts. An ideal place for a relaxing walk among the centuries-old trees.

Ruth Tazey3 months agoNo litter, variety of length trails and beautiful bluebells in some parts of the woods. Also great for kids as they have carvings for the kids to look out for. Also orchids growing!

I 💕 love it here so beautiful and peaceful. Love all different trails can go on can very your walks. Dog friendly. Nearest get to forest bathing here.
Francesca Partridge6 years agoThe Blean complex is a large area of ancient, mostly deciduous woodland. It is one of the few places in the country that the rare heath fritillary butterfly cane be found. The woodland floor is carpeted in places first with wood anemone then bluebells in spring. Strange and beautiful fungi can be found later in the year. Nightingale regularly breed here. It is a wonderful place for a walk, watch wildlife or just get away from it all for a short time.Related categories
