Description
Highcliffe Castle is an impressive monument in the Romantic Gothic style, built between 1831 and 1835 by Lord Stuart de Rothesay. This unique building combines 14 types of stone and medieval architectural elements salvaged from French ruins, including the Benedictine abbey at Jumieges.
The castle has hosted more than 30 kings, queens and princes, making it a place with a rich social history. The surrounding grounds offer picturesque views of Christchurch Bay and the Isle of Wight.
