Description
National Trust - Hardy's House Max Gate is a unique home designed and built by famous British author Thomas Hardy in 1885. This Queen Anne-style Grade I listed monument offers a fascinating insight into the life and work of one of England's greatest authors.
Surrounded by a dense pine forest, which Hardy planted for privacy, the house enjoys tranquility and picturesque views of the surrounding countryside. Roman relics and a Neolithic archaeological site have also been discovered on the property, adding further historical significance to the site.
