Description

Hackney Empire is a historic theater in London, designed by famous architect Frank Matcham in 1901. With a 1,500-seat auditorium, three balconies and ornate boxes, this imposing edifice is resplendent in Edwardian splendor and is considered one of the best preserved theaters from that era.

Legends such as Charlie Chaplin, Stan Laurel and Marie Lloyd have performed on the boards of the Hackney Empire. Today, the theater offers a diverse artistic program - from pantomime and opera to ballet, concerts and comedy performances.

It is a true cultural gem of east London, whose rich history and unique architecture attract art and history lovers.
