Description
Grande Palácio de Constantinopla is an impressive residence of the Byzantine emperors that operated from 330 to 1081.
This complex of buildings, expanded by successive rulers, notably Justinian I and Theophilus, was awe-inspiring with its rich ornamentation of exotic marbles and magnificent mosaics.
The throne room, with its mechanical devices and golden throne, was a technological marvel of its time. The palace, located between the Hippodrome and the Hagia Sophia Basilica, was the administrative and ceremonial heart of the Byzantine Empire.
