Description
Aachener Wald is a vast forest complex stretching from the Belgian and Dutch borders almost to the Voreifel. Known locally as the 'Öcher Bösch,' it offers six color-coded circular trails of varying lengths (from 2.7 km to 5.5 km).
The forest impresses with its variety of flora and fauna - you can spot roe deer, foxes and numerous species of birds. Hiking on trails with an intermediate level of difficulty, you will discover picturesque landscapes, meadows and the banks of the Inde River.
This is an ideal place for history buffs - the area is home to the 12th century Stolberg Castle and the unique Dreiländerpunkt, where the borders of three countries meet.
