Description

The Sans-Souci is an impressive royal palace in Haiti, built between 1810 and 1813 by King Henri Christophe I. This architectural marvel combines Baroque staircases, classical terraces and gardens inspired by European palaces to create a unique blend of styles.

Despite the damage caused by the 1842 earthquake, the ruins are still stunning in harmony with the mountainous landscape.

As a UNESCO site, the palace symbolizes Haiti's freedom and resilience, telling the fascinating story of America's first black monarchy.
