Description
The Pioneer Statue is a bronze sculpture commemorating the courage of Europeans who left their homelands to make a new home in America.
The statue was unveiled on August 27, 2001 as part of the Sea Trek 2001 project, commemorating the exodus of members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from Europe in the 19th century.
It is located in a picturesque part of Old Portsmouth, near the historic Sally Ports, making it a point of interest for lovers of history, art and religion.
