Description
Saphan Hin Mining Monument is a unique monument commemorating the rich history of tin mining on Phuket. Built in 1969 in the shape of an old dredge, it commemorates the introduction of metal ore mining by Captain Edward Thomas Miles in 1909.
Surrounded by scenic sea views and paths among the mangroves, it offers an ideal spot for walks and photo sessions. The area around the monument encourages relaxation, picnics and sports activities like tennis, basketball and volleyball.
Nearby is the Kiew Tian Temple, which plays an important role during the annual Phuket Vegetarian Festival.
