Zamek w Vadstenie

Vadstena Castle is one of 12 Renaissance castles built in Sweden during the Vas dynasty. This 16th century fortress, designed by Flemish architect Arendt de Roy, combines unique elements of Flemish and Swedish architecture.

Originally built as a defensive fortification against the Danes, the castle impresses with its history and illusionistic paintings, which replaced the rich furnishings destroyed in a fire.

Today, after extensive restoration, the castle offers a fascinating journey through time, with themed night tours and historical re-enactments.
