Description
Kawainui Marsh Wildlife Sanctuary is the largest preserved wetland in Hawaii, spanning 830 acres. This unique wildlife sanctuary is home to endangered bird species, including the Hawaiian stilt, Hawaiian chickadee and Hawaiian coot.
The three-mile paved path along the levee offers scenic views of the Koʻolau Mountains and is ideal for novice hikers. It does not require climbing hills, making it accessible to everyone.
As a wetland of international importance, recognized by the Ramsar Convention, the reserve is a paradise for birders and nature lovers.
