Description
Georgia's Old Governor's Mansion is a remarkable example of Greek Revival architecture, completed in 1839. Recognized as a National Historic Monument, this impressive building was the home of Georgia's eight governors from 1839 to 1868.
It was occupied by General William T. Sherman during the Civil War, and was later carefully restored to its 1851 appearance. Visitors can admire the impressive columns, symmetrical facade and intricate stucco while learning about the complex social, economic and political aspects of 19th century Georgia.
