Description

The Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History is a unique cultural institution dedicated to the rich heritage of African Americans. Founded in 1965 by Dr. Charles Howard Wright, a physician and civil rights activist, it was Detroit's first International African American Museum.

The museum is housed in an impressive 125,000-square-foot building in the Midtown neighborhood. It offers fascinating exhibitions and collections that delve into the diverse history and culture of African Americans and their African roots.

One of the museum's highlights is the African World Festival, which celebrates culture, history and community.
