Description
Desert View Watchtower is a 70-foot stone structure designed by Mary Colter in 1932, offering the widest possible view of the Grand Canyon.
This unique structure combines the functions of a tourist attraction, gift store and museum of Hopi culture. Inside, visitors can admire murals by Fred Kabotie and designs from prehistoric sites throughout the Southwest.
The tower's architecture, with a steel frame surrounded by carefully selected stones from the Grand Canyon, blends perfectly with the surrounding landscape to create a masterpiece of architectural beauty.
